Tab 7: When the banks close
TAB 7 Finton Field Manual
▶ PLAY FINTON FREEDo this first
- Keep some cash at home in small bills. Card readers and ATMs need power and networks.
- Turn spare cash into food, fuel and supplies early if prices are climbing.
- Goods and skills trade when money doesn't: food, fuel, medicine, tools and repair work.
In Finton
- The ATM caps withdrawals early in the crisis, then goes dark. The bank closes. Visit early.
- On Hard difficulty you start with about $1,000 in cash hidden around the house instead of in the bank, like the coffee can in the pantry. Find it early.
- In the Hard Times emergency, prices rise every day, and the mortgage ($850, day 10) and electric bill ($160, day 15) still come due.
- Trade with neighbors and the swap meet. What you own counts toward your final score.
Know the numbers
- End-of-game resources count up to 500 points.
- See the case study on Weimar Germany, 1923, for what happens when money stops working.
